Check out this week’s episode of Midnight Hostility Radio as Sam Namo breaks down the amazin’ start the Mets have had early this season.
Strong Start in 2025: Mets
The New York Mets have kicked off the season strong, holding off the Phillies and Braves for now.
With an amazing start by Pete Alonso, who is leading the Mets in every offensive category, and Francisco Lindor off to a great start as well, the team seems to be on track for an amazin’ season.
And Juan Soto is just warming up, and you know that express train is coming!
Key Performers: Alonso and Lindor
Focusing on the Mets’ Early Success
Leading the charge is Pete Alonso, who remains red-hot at the plate, consistently delivering crucial hits that have propelled the team’s offensive performance.
He seems to be on a mission this year. Let’s not forget he can opt out of his contract and become a free agent again after this season.
His powerful swing and relentless work ethic are vital components of the team’s success.
Additionally, Francisco Lindor’s quick start has brought excitement to the lineup, as he navigates the bases with agility and skill, making critical plays that contribute to the team’s overall dynamic.
In past years, Lindor has started the season slow and heated up once we hit June. But Lindor seems to be picking up from where he left off last postseason when he had numerous big hits that brought the team within two wins of a World Series appearance.
Juan Soto is getting on base consistently, and you know he will explode offensively eventually and put up the numbers he is expected to achieve.
Overall, the offense is looking good, even if it isn’t clicking on all cylinders yet.
Dominating the Pitching Game
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the team’s early season success is their unparalleled pitching.
Currently boasting the best pitching stats in baseball, the staff has held opposing teams at bay, displaying a formidable combination of strikeouts and minimal runs allowed.
This gives them a competitive edge against rivals such as the Phillies and Braves.
If this trend continues, there is no doubt that the team will remain formidable contenders in the league.
The rotation of Clay Holmes, David Peterson, Tylor Megill, Griffin Canning, and Kodai Senga has been unbelievable, and the bullpen has matched the starters’ great start.
This is all with Sean Manaea on the IL as well as Frankie Montas.
And who knows what rabbits David Stearns will pull out of his hat at the trade deadline if need be.
Overall, it’s a great time to be a fan!
